Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, ook wel 'The Temple of Speed' is een 5,793 km lang circuit gelegen bij de plaats Monza, nabij Milaan, in het noorden van Italië. Het circuit bestaat uit lange rechte stukken en snelle veelal rechter bochten en enkele korte chicanes. Ondanks meerdere pogingen om de hoge snelheden te matigen is Monza nog steeds hét hogesnelheidscircuit bij uitstek.
De unieke lay-out van het circuit van Monza levert de teams en de coureurs een aantal lastige uitdagingen op. Zo wordt er op geen enkel ander circuit dit jaar met zo weinig downforce gereden, wat het voor de coureurs dus des te lastiger maakt om goed de krappe chicanes te komen.
Teams die de krachtige Mercedes-motor achterin hebben liggen zullen uiteraard in het voordeel zijn dit jaar, maar sluit een verrassing nooit uit. Zo zal Ferrari zich voor de fanatieke Tifosi uiteraard van voren willen laten zien, maar dan moet het wel af zien te rekenen met de steeds sterker wordende Red Bulls.
Monza is a very historic circuit, so it is quite special when you go there. It is a great track, you have the long, long straights and some great high speed corners. It is not an easy track to get a good set-up at. It is really tough on the cars, and you have to use the kerbs a lot to get quick lap times. Slowing the cars down with the incredibly low downforce is not easy, and the balance under braking is key.

Ik heb goede herinneringen aan het land en haar gepassioneerde fans. Het is goed voor Italië en Ferrari dat er nog op Monza geracet wordt. Voor ons zijn de lange rechte stukken niet ideaal. Het gaat om topsnelheid, hard remmen en met veel tractie de bocht uit komen. Voor ons is dit het meest lastige circuit van de hele kalender.

Monza is always one of my favourite races and I love driving the track with its unique high-speed and low-downforce layout. The last European race of the season always has a special atmosphere and the Italian fans are so passionate about Formula One. It's really cool for me that I speak Italian and can communicate easily with the fans in and around the circuit. To go to Monza with the feeling that we have a quick car is fantastic and I hope we will achieve another strong team result as we did in Belgium. We have to keep pushing now and I know everyone is working really hard at the factories to do just that.

It's a very special track, and one I absolutely love. There is so much history there; so many races have been held at Monza and lots of great drivers have won, particularly back in the old days when you needed to be quick and incredibly brave. Then there is the passion of the crowd – you can hear the fans when you drive round. The track itself is very old school and it's fun to drive. We take off a lot of downforce so parts are flat out and there can be a lot of overtaking. It's good fun.

Monza is a great place to go racing. There are so many different destinations on the calendar and there is something special about each one of them, but Monza is legendary. It’s a unique track, with very high speeds and low downforce. The setting in the park of Monza is beautiful: the moment you drive through the gates, you feel all the history of the place coming at you. The tifosi, the Italian fans, add to this combination and create a fantastic vibe.
Monza is just on the outskirts of Milan, which is a very interesting place, but during a race weekend you’re just too busy to go and explore. The parties on Sunday night are not too bad, though! We go to Italy at the end of the summer and the weather is usually still quite hot. Great weather, great fans, great food - it all adds up to make a very cool race.
Few tracks push the car to the limit as Monza does. There is no margin for error in the braking zones and every mistake costs you time. In terms of set-up, you need to strike a balance between high speed on the straights and downforce in the corners, but the focus is firmly on top speed. You also need good traction, to make the most of the long straights. Monza is het type circuit dat ik leuk vind: hoge snelheid, geweldige remzones en het heeft een unieke sfeer. Hier racen, met snelheden tot 360km/uur, geeft een geweldig gevoel.

Monza is een knotsgekke locatie met bizar veel gehypte fans. Ik houd van hen allemaal en hoop ook zeker dat ik wat extra aanmoediging krijg vanwege mijn Italiaanse roots. Het is een bloedsnelle baan waar je zeker goed kan inhalen.

De hoogtepunten van het circuit zijn de laatste chicane, de Ascari, en de laatste bocht, de Parabolica. Om de laatste bocht perfect door te komen is lastig, maar geeft een mooi gevoel.
